How can I clean my airsoft equipment?

Basically, AEG high/middle/low cap magazines rarely need to be cleaned, as no dirt gets into the magazine during normal use. In contrast, there are open magazines such as those used in spring-loaded or GBB pistols, where the magazine spring is exposed.

The best way to clean such open airsoft magazines is to pull the spring downwards and clean the exposed space with a cotton swab. Silicone spray, for example, is particularly effective for cleaning, but this should be removed after cleaning.
