The big advantage is that you can adjust the thickness, which is not possible with a pillow.

How do you make old pillows (or pillowcases) fluffy again? There are various tips circulating on the Internet. Some people talk about washing the cover, lining it with tennis balls and then putting it in the dryer. Another option is to remove the lining, provided it is not bird feathers, and to "shake" the cover properly after washing. You can even use the dryer with down pillows, but only in the cold phase.
