Always well equipped with ASMC gloves

Find the right glove for every situation, e.g. work, car, motorcycle or outdoors. ASMC shows you what is important and what you should pay attention to.

What should I consider when using gloves?

There are usually no special features to consider when using gloves for the first time. However, it is advisable to read the instructions for use carefully. These often contain special care instructions or instructions for use from the manufacturer. In addition, important information may be included, such as warnings about which activities the gloves should not be used for (e.g. due to a lack of slip resistance when driving a car). Fortunately, brand manufacturers such as Sealskinz, Invader Gear or Mechanix Wear usually clearly indicate important information using the usual symbols.

Tip: Wash your hands before putting on the gloves to reduce the formation of unpleasant odors. The hand, as one of the most important working tools of humans, should be protected by gloves against cold, heat, friction or chemical influences, while also improving functionality. Before putting on the gloves, you should check whether the lining or the inner glove is twisted. If there is a fastening mechanism (such as Velcro, snap fastener or zipper), it is important to use it correctly.

Which is the right glove for me?

The choice of the right glove depends primarily on its area of application. The primary distinguishing features include:

Outdoor gloves for outdoor activities

Certain properties are essential for outdoor activities. These gloves should be water-repellent, breathable and well-insulated to offer you optimal protection in changeable weather. Materials such as Gore-Tex or neoprene are ideal for this as they offer a good compromise between thermal insulation and moisture management.

Tactical gloves for the military sector

Tactical gloves are used in the military or police sector. They are characterized by their robustness and at the same time offer you a good grip and protection against mechanical influences. Reinforcements on the palms and fingers provide additional protection and increased durability.

Once the main area of application has been determined, you can choose between different glove shapes:

Mittens or mittens

In mittens or mittens, all fingers except the thumb are encased in a common inner chamber.

Folding mittens

Folding mittens offer you a combination of finger gloves and mittens. The foldable case allows you to quickly expose your fingertips when needed, which is useful for fine motor work.

Finger gloves

Finger gloves are characterized by the fact that each finger has its own separate sleeve. This design allows for increased mobility and sensitivity, which is particularly important for activities that require precise handling. They offer an ideal combination of protection and flexibility and are therefore ideal for a wide range of activities, from everyday tasks to special professional requirements.

Half gloves or fingerless gloves

Half gloves or fingerless gloves leave your fingertips free and are suitable for activities where the sense of touch is important.

When choosing gloves, it is important that they are not too tight so as not to impair blood circulation and avoid cold fingers. Many gloves are constructed with multiple layers to provide better warmth based on the onion skin principle. Gloves for mechanical protection are designed to prevent injuries such as blisters, calluses, abrasions, cuts and punctures. They are usually designed as finger gloves to ensure independent mobility of the fingers. To determine the correct size, the circumference of the hand is measured at the level of the knuckles, excluding the thumb. The appropriate glove size can then be read off from a size chart.

What materials are available?

In addition to choosing the right size, you also have to choose the right material. You can choose between common materials such as polyester, neoprene, polyacrylic, and artificial (synthetic) and natural leather. There are special materials for specific applications, for example the so-called fire-retardant Nomex leather mixes, absolutely waterproof materials such as MVT fabric made of nylon and Lycra, or cold protection gloves made of polyester and cotton with warm Thinsulate lining. Studs that are applied to the materials often improve the grip.

Questions: Gloves

Why do I always have such cold hands and what can I do about it?

Our hands are full of blood vessels that contract when it's cold. In addition to the hands, the feet, ears, nose and chin are also affected. Due to the reduced blood flow to the extremities, the core of the body can continue to be supplied with enough warm blood, while the hands and feet cool down quickly. The skin on the hands is usually thin and has hardly any insulating fat. Since the hands also have a relatively large surface area, a lot of heat is lost here. In addition to physical problems, psychological problems such as stress or anxiety can also cause the blood vessels to contract and make your hands freeze. Blood flow can be boosted by eating spicy foods such as red pepper, Tabasco, chili or paprika powder. To prevent cold hands, you should train the blood vessels, for example by taking alternating showers or doing cardiovascular training. Visiting the sauna also promotes blood flow. It is also important to ensure relaxation in everyday life, because in stressful situations adrenaline and noradrenaline are released, which can cause the blood vessels to constrict.

Extra tip: sprinkling cayenne pepper on your hands can also bring warmth. But be careful: this should only be used with caution as it can cause skin irritation and can be dangerous, especially in the eye area.
