Field blouses are often equipped with one or more Velcro areas to which name tags, patches or rank insignia can be attached. A further characteristic feature of combat shirts is the large number of pockets. The gear required for the service can be stored in these and thus carried with you at all times. As a rule, classic field blouses are equipped with two breast pockets and an upper arm pocket. Because the equipment can be stored in many pockets directly on the body, the necessary equipment is always on the man and within reach. For this reason, combat shirts are also becoming increasingly popular for everyday work. Last but not least, the materials used are particularly robust and hard-wearing. This is an important prerequisite for the basic equipment of all military personnel on duty. In addition, the lightweight materials feel pleasant on the skin and are cut in such a way that no pressure points are created by seams. Many field blouses are made from materials that inhibit odors and regulate the climate, meaning that the combat shirts can be worn for several days and therefore for longer missions without any problems. To ensure the user additional protection, combat shirts are often equipped with material reinforcements on the arms and are made from flame-retardant materials. Last but not least, field blouses are often made from materials that are both cut- and abrasion-resistant, thus extending the comfortable wearing properties of the Bundeswehr trousers to include additional protective properties that are useful for service. Some models even do not have hard metal or plastic parts so that they do not cause secondary injuries when worn under a protective vest if fired upon. All in all, field blouses and combat shirts are real all-rounders: They are used as functional clothing in many areas and make it easier to carry out a wide variety of activities both on duty and in everyday life.
