What should be considered when using identification tags?

Our identification tags (EKMs) can be hung around the neck simply and easily. The material is robust and stable and has a high resistance to corrosion. Therefore, our identification tags do not require maintenance. If the identification tags are attached to a collar, care must be taken to ensure that the collar is properly closed and that the identification tag is also securely attached. Otherwise there is a risk that the identification tag will slip off or be lost. A small hole is provided for attaching our identification tags, through which smaller chains and ropes can be put.

Which tag or EKM should you choose?

Which dog tag is chosen depends not only on individual taste, but also on the circumstances. We provide a variety of different dog tags so that they can be selected according to personal needs.

Our dog tags can be used for many different areas. Our dog tags include those for radio operators, army aviation, the Legion, tank reconnaissance, supply, artillery and long-range reconnaissance.

In addition to the official dog tags such as the Bundeswehr dog tag, we also offer ones with individual engraving. The text can be selected personally and is then engraved in specially designed workshops. These are therefore also ideal as a gift for birthdays, Christmas or other annual events.

Some of our brands are designed as bottle openers and are therefore also suitable as practical everyday items. Which variant is ultimately chosen depends on personal preference.

Expert tip: What do the labels on the stamps mean?

There is also the special case where, for example, a so-called emergency badge is created for epileptics, which contains the most important information, immediate measures or a caregiver's telephone number and which the affected person can comfortably wear around the neck at all times.

But even with the EKMs for "normal" use, there are certain standards to identify the label. For example, during the Wehrmacht era, the stamps indicated which infantry regiment the wearer belonged to and which blood group the wearer needed.

Where does the term dog tag come from?

There is no complicated explanation for this as one might assume, but they are called this because they are very similar to the identification tags commonly used by dogs.

Why are two brands always used?

Since these stamps come from military use, one stamp was intended for the soldier's burial and the other to remain with the military.

What are the stamps usually attached to?

The tags are usually worn around the neck. A so-called ball chain is used for this, which is so called because it is made up of lots of small balls. To ensure that the two tags do not rub or jingle against each other when moving, you can usually buy rubber edges for the metal tags.
