Over 60 years of Alpha Industries

If you look back to 1957, you come across Dobbs Industries in Knoxville, Tennessee. At that time, Dobbs Industries produced Air Force flight jackets, hoods, hats and army raincoats. In 1959, Samuel Gelber founded Alpha Industries and worked as a subcontractor for Dobbs. At that time, he produced the MA-1 flight jacket, which is now known worldwide, and subsequently developed into a contract manufacturer for the government. That year, Alpha Industries signed its first contract with the US Department of Defense to manufacture the Air Force N-3B parka. This was the first test for the newcomers in the clothing industry.

In 1965, Alpha Industries was awarded the contract for the newly developed M-65 field jacket. A high point was reached and Alpha was awarded a contract for this jacket by the state government for the next 25 years. To keep the production line between Alpha Industries and the government running, Alpha began a small production of jackets for the commercial market in 1970.

1992: The year the famous “Flieger A” was born! Alpha Industries presents its new trademark consisting of the three horizontal stripes and the Flieger A. This label is now known worldwide.

1996: The step into the global market. Alpha Industries establishes a partnership with a wholesaler in Japan.

1998: Alpha Industries created its first collection for the European market. In addition to men's clothing, a range of women's and children's clothing was also launched.
