Basically, ammunition pouches are necessary for those who carry a service weapon or for those who want to be optimally prepared for all situations when playing airsoft in their free time. Magazine pouches are, so to speak, an upgrade to the original equipment, through which additional equipment can be carried and is always ready to hand.
As the name suggests, ammunition pouches are used to store spare magazines, which can be accessed quickly in case of doubt. At the same time, the magazine pouches also serve to protect the ammunition carried: They prevent dust, mud and moisture from damaging the spare magazines and possibly impairing their use.

Any number of magazine pouches can be attached to a wide variety of equipment, thus greatly expanding the original storage options. For example, they can be attached to a belt or backpack, meaning the user can store a lot of additional equipment thanks to the ammunition pouches and have everything close at hand at all times.
Many ammunition pouches differ from one another in their respective attachment method: While some are attached to the equipment using normal belt loops, others are supplemented by the so-called MOLLE system on the existing equipment.
MOLLE comes from English and means the lightweight and modular carrying equipment used by the military. Thanks to this attachment, any number of ammunition pouches can be individually attached to the equipment using MOLLE loops.
