In 1933, Bröderna Kjellström Instrumentenwerk launched the first liquid-filled compass under the brand name Silva. At the same time, the first headlamp was launched under the name Zeiler.

The company has only officially been called "Silva" since 1980, but since then it has been inextricably linked to tracking and localization and has already received numerous awards for its innovative devices. For example, in 1992 the Swedish company launched the first handy GPS with a built-in digital compass.
