Bollé – safety and design for your eyes

Everyone knows how important it is to protect your eyes. Whether from the sun, from stones when cycling or playing other sports, from sparks when welding or from bullets and casings at the shooting range or on the paintball field.

The history

The "Maison Séraphine Bollé", a company that manufactured combs and hair accessories, was founded in 1888. A new material, celluloid, from which Bollé's previous products were also made, was to have a lasting impact on the company's development.

48 years after the company was founded, Bollé produced the first sunglasses. Their frames were made of celluloid. During World War II, the military industry relied on the company's know-how. After the end of the war, Bollé produced the first lenses made of the new material nylon.

In 1993, Bollé designed a classification system that made it possible to divide safety glasses into different protection classes.

Today, Bollé produces sunglasses for a wide variety of sports, ski goggles, and ski and snowboard helmets.
