Comet – brand manufacturer for signal generators and accessories

Founded in Bremerhaven in the 1930s, Comet Marine Distress Signals is today one of the world's most important manufacturers of signaling devices in the nautical and military environment.

Flares and smoke signals have been among the German manufacturer's leading products for more than five decades, sold in more than 60 countries and used in almost all major ports around the world.

Use Comet signal generators easily and correctly

The signalers are fired using special launchers that allow the flare cartridges to be easily placed on the device and fired at the push of a button. The brand manufacturer states that the cartridges burn for at least five seconds and have a luminosity of 10,000 candelas. Tailor-made magazines with space for up to nine cartridges are available for dry and safe storage of the projectiles.

It is even easier to use Comet smoke generators, whose robust packaging can be torn open at marked points and then releases white smoke constantly. The smoke generators, which are declared as dangerous goods, are easy to transport, weighing less than 100 grams, and guarantee a burning time of several minutes.

During the first decades, the North German company specialised in the manufacture of fireworks and by 1960 was one of the best-known suppliers of pyrotechnic products in Central Europe.

- The brand name is intended to be reminiscent of the comet with its tail, which as a celestial body leaves a luminous path similar to that of the manufacturer's flares. What originally applied to the flight path of fireworks is still suitable for the brand's signal projectiles today.

- Primarily designed for the navy and civil shipping, Comet signaling devices are also used in other military areas. The takeover by a British parent company, which operates as Marine Signal & Safety UK Ltd., has contributed to the global spread of the brand products.
